Should I use all 13 tags?

Yes, always use all 13 tags. Etsy gives you 13 slots to help their algorithm categorize your listing; failing to use them all is leaving free traffic on the table.

Are broad tags like 'resin' a waste of space?

Broad tags can bring in traffic, but they often lead to low conversion rates. Use them sparingly as 1 or 2 of your 13 tags, and focus the rest on descriptive, long-tail phrases.

How often should I change my tags?

If a listing isn't performing after 30-60 days, try refreshing the tags. If a listing is already performing well, avoid changing the tags, as you don't want to disrupt your current search ranking.

Do tags need to be in my title?

While it is not strictly required, it is highly recommended to include your most important keywords in both your title and your tags for maximum SEO impact.

How to use these tags

Optimizing for the Resin Art Niche

Resin art is a highly visual category on Etsy. To succeed, your tags must balance broad search terms with specific, long-tail keywords that describe the unique aesthetic of your pieces. Buyers searching for 'resin art' are often browsing, while those searching for 'custom resin ocean coasters' are ready to purchase.

Focus on the 'why' behind the purchase. Are you selling home decor, wedding keepsakes, or jewelry? Use your tags to bridge the gap between the material (resin) and the utility of the item.

The Power of Long-Tail Keywords

While 'resin art' is a high-volume term, it is incredibly competitive. New shops often struggle to rank on the first page for such broad keywords. Instead, leverage long-tail tags like 'personalized resin anniversary gift' or 'epoxy resin floral preservation' to capture high-intent shoppers.

These specific phrases have lower competition and higher conversion rates. By targeting these, you signal to the Etsy algorithm exactly who your ideal customer is, leading to better placement in search results and fewer wasted impressions.

Seasonal Strategy for Resin Sellers

Resin art is a popular choice for gift-giving, particularly around Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and the winter holiday season. Adjust your tags quarterly to include seasonal modifiers like 'unique Christmas gift' or 'spring home decor' to stay relevant.

Combine these seasonal tags with your evergreen keywords to maximize reach during peak gifting months. Consistency in updating your tags based on search trends is what separates top-performing shops from the rest.
